Got take out lunch. Service was friendly and the food was prepared quickly. Corn chowder was tasty and not overly salty. Roasted corn added depth to the flavor. The salad would have been fine without the iceberg lettuce, but it was sufficient. Got a couple pieces of cake too and they were not super fresh, but they were homemade and the kids ate them nonetheless.

This is a new restaurant and, I would say, a welcome addition in the area. They try to source locally and based on my lunch, the effort is quite worthwhile. I had a chicken salad sandwich that came with a bowl of soup ($7.50). My choice was corn chowder which was very good and fairly spicy which I liked. The sandwich was on their own sourdough bread (toasted and tasty!) and was good although I would have preferred it made with mayonnaise (theirs tasted more like salad dressing). Entrees include shrimp and grits, gumbo and jambalaya. Four soups are available including chili and tomato-apple. But save room for dessert! I didn't so had to get one to take away. The cakes are all displayed as you enter the restaurant and, as it says on the menu, are "twice the size of your head". One serving ($7.50) could easily serve two, maybe three people. I had the 7th Heaven: two layers of chocolate cake with smaller layer of cheesecake with scrumptious icing and chocolate bits on the outside. Really good! They also have 8 different cheesecakes on the menu and 5 pies all at $6.50/slice. Service was good and my waitress was quite friendly in a motherly way. The owner came by to see how I enjoyed my lunch. They also have seating outside. (Places can be hard to find on busy Hwy 17 so keep your eye out for a large sign for the Litchfield Inn turn-off. Boll Weevil is at that crossroad.)

Stopped in to satisfy a sweet craving while on vacation in Pawleys Island. The girl at the counter was helpful and made some suggestions as well as offered us some dessert samples. We chose the Turtle Cheesecake and it did not disappoint!

Just stopped at Boll Weevil for some dessert. Canary Lemon cake was delicious but the Caramel cake was stale...like a week old stale! I will not be returning because prices are high enough ALL slices of cake should be fresh.

Everything was homemade: breads, desserts, dressings, spinach dip! I wasn't expecting much after noticing the mediocre decor, but I quickly moved past that after tasting the food. I got a to-go box for my lunch when it came out, but I decided that I couldn't leave the remainder of my George sandwich. The turkey was cut so thickly, which I loved! The spinach dip and cheese were perfectly melted together. My husband's veggie burger was gone in minutes. The tropical cake (pineapple and coconut) was deliciously moist and fruity, and my husband said the carrot cake was the best he'd ever had. Even if you don't have time for a sit-down meal, go just for the desserts alone!

The meals are delicious and appropriately priced. The deserts are amazing. Seriously good eats I'd recommend this restaurant for anyone, local or vacationers because of the food, service, and pleasant atmosphere. Save room for dessert, or get it to go, you won't be disappointed.

I stopped in at 11:40 on a Saturday, and the place was dead. There was no employee and there were no patrons. I stood there for a few moments then peek my head around the corner and decided that I was just going to leave, when someone finally came out to help me. I ordered two slices of cake to go-a slice of red velvet and a slice of seventh Heaven. They are huge slices of cake and it's $7.50 each I expected them to be pretty fantastic. MEH pretty much sums it up. The red velvet cake is decent it does however like something important, and appropriate amount of frosting to go with a significant amount of cake. The frosting itself on the cake is nothing to write home about. As for the seventh Heaven cake, what a disappointment! It looks so good two layers of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and a layer of cheesecake in the middle top for the chocolate ganache oh yeah looks and sounds to die for. I threw most of this cake away. The cheesecake layer in the middle was overcooked and had a grainy texture. As a baker I'm pretty sure they forgot to add sugar and vanilla. It basically tasted like a block of overcooked cream cheese. The chocolate layers lacked flavor and were very dry. The employee that helped me was less than enthusiastic. I had high hopes and they were dashed. Go to Kudzu or Pawleys Island Bakery.

Staff was super friendly. The chocolate cake is to die for, but be prepared to share it! It's huge! We waited a little bit for our food, but It was worth it because I could tell everything was made super fresh. I got the Salmon BLT, which was on special, and a side salad. The bread was homemade.. Doughy and delicious. And the salmon was cooked perfectly! The portions were huge and I had plenty to take home at the end.

My wife and I just ate here. Glad we did. We always love new places in Pawleys to eat. The staff was friendly. The prices are great. The owner, Julie, is super nice. The specialty are their signature cakes which are wonderful and soon there will be 23 different kinds. Make sure to try the Hummingbird. I only have one suggestion and that is to have more pictures on the walls to warm the place up a bit. But that's no big deal.

Fantastic half price apps. Wonderful entrees and sandwiches. And oh the deserts. A welcome addition to the beach

Our family visited for dinner, and did not have a pleasant experience. We arrived at 5:30, but did not leave until 7:20. We started out with appetizers, spinach dip which was amazing, and spring rolls that were okay. As a meal, some members of the group tried various sandwiches which were just okay, nothing special. 2 members ordered the grown-up grilled cheese, with pimento cheese and bacon, on sourdough bread that was as hard as a rock you couldn't even break. The food came out within a 5 minute span and those who got their meal first were finished with it before the rest of us even got our food. By this time we were already there for an hour and a half and got dessert to go. The desserts looked amazing as we walked in and were so excited to try them! We were even going to get some for the next day. We ordered the 7th heaven, perfect chocolate, strawberry and red velvet. The cake was dry and nothing to write home about. Overall our experience was not good . UPdate: We were contacted after the owner saw our review on trip advisor, and contacted us immediately. She apologized and handled the situation very well, compensating our whole meal. She was very honest that there were issues with the kitchen that evening. She was very nice about the whole situation, and we will try again on our future trips!

Delicious! I had the best jambalaya I've ever had and my husband had the lobster special. Then huge pieces of peanut butter pie and 7th heaven cake. YUM!!

I can't talk about how good the food is at Boll Weevil because we never got any food. The four of us sat down in the sparsely filled dining room and were served water. We ordered appetizers and salads and entrees. 27 minutes is how long we waited until getting up and walking out. As we left the entrance, no one was there either to wish us a good evening. If you go, perhaps you will see our salads that might finally arrive. Look for the table in the corner.
